We interrupt this regularly scheduled program.................

BIG NEWS ALERT

Word is in on our next duty station!  I know you have read my many complaints about the cold and the snow and what not. It's just hard for a California girl to be put in two very cold places. First Colorado now Massachusetts! It's never been my favorite. So after 5 1/2 years of cold, brutal winters. We are moving to HAWAII!!!!! At first I was nervous about having the choice. It was the only spot open for us at this time. They said we could take the chance of getting whatever they give us, or taking Hawaii now. After weighing all our options we took the plunge and said yes. Now we get to have an super long extended vacation. Sounds pretty exciting to me! Can't wait to be in this beautiful place!

Been there...Ate That!

I have been getting adventurous in the Kitchen. I really enjoy cooking now!

It's funny because when I was younger and pretty far into my young mama years! I would constantly look in the pantry or fridge and say the most common phrase of the "lazy people"

"There's nothing to eat!"

I would drive my mom up the wall. Fact was there was nothing easy to make or nothing I wanted.
I wasn't really forced to cook growing up. I knew some basics. How to boil water, how to use a microwave ;) etc. You know important things.

I remember a couple times when we were living in Colorado. I had friends over for dinner on two separate occasions. Two separate friends. I think I made something easy that night. Probably things you just pop into an oven. And you know what?! Those friends made fun of me! They were expecting a real meal. I guess we had different views on a "real meal". I laughed it off but I was secretly bummed. No one likes to be made fun of. I kind of felt like a failure as a wife and a mom. Because I couldn't cook.

Another reason I believe Pinterest is sent from God to help some of us girls out with these stressful areas of our lives! Cooking, decorating, wedding planning, etc.

I had had enough and I started cooking. You know the funny thing was! I did know how to cook! Anyone can cook you just follow a recipe. Then after all it just comes naturally.

I even impress the husband on occasion!

Here are a few recipes I've done recently.

Grilled Flank Steak with Tomatoes

Egg Nog French Toast

Caprese Stuffed Turkey Burgers

September, naturally

September has come up pretty fast. Was that not the quickest summer ever? Now we are back in school already. It is of course another of Pre-school except now this year we call it Pre-K. Whatever, she still loves school and is always excited to go. This time the hubs got to go with us! Riley had the same teacher and same room so it wasn't a big deal for her. But she's always been an independent little lady. Wonder where she got that from?

Showing off her outfit for the first day of school !

{Family Day} Boston Childrens Museum

Ok.. I'm fired! Sometimes it takes me FOR-EVVER to upload pictures off of the camera (or phone for that matter) These weren't the best photos ever so that's probably why I didn't jump at the chance as soon as we came home.

Anyway, we had a spur of the moment family day back in March. I was tired of staying in from the ginormous amounts of snow {blizzard} we had been getting. I had cabin fever like you wouldn't believe! Who wouldn't with several feet of snow making you feel buried alive.  Most of it was finally melting so I told the family we were heading to Boston.
We ventured out and headed to the children's museum since we hadn't been yet. It was jam packed with so many other kids. I guess everyone else had the same idea. They had tons of stuff, bubble making, medical stuff, etc. I can't even remember all the stuff there was to look at. But Riley sure had a blast. I guess it pays off to be spontaneous!

{Photo Bomber} My mini fashionista

Everyone seemed to love the photo of my mini photo bomber in the last post. So I decided I should dedicate an entire post just to her and all the fun little times she's gotten in on the action. She thinks she's a mini model and it's so cute. She definitely has the posing down that's for sure. Sometimes she waits her turn to get pictures of her when we are shooting for my fashion posts. Other times not so much, she just comes right in and gets in there with me, even pulling up a chair too.  It's pretty hilarious actually! She's my mini me and I love her so much! One of these days she's going to pass me up and steal the show. That's alright though, she's cute and I don't mind it.

She stole my hat too!

Then she turned into a hair stylist for the shoot as well. She's a jack of all trades!
