{Riley's first field trip}

I was very excited to be a chaperone for Riley's first field trip! We got here too fast for my liking, and it's only the beginning. My little baby is growing up! :(
She was so excited for this trip too. We got all ready in the morning I packed her snack and we got to the school and it was chaos of course. Parents and kids everywhere. It wasn't just Riley's class going it was a few other ones so they had two school buses pick them up {Riley was really excited about riding on a bus for the first time}. Us parents drove ourselves and met them at the farm. It was a short but sweet little trip. After all little kids have like no attention span. We each had two kids assigned to us for the day. They split the classes up one group had their snack time and one group took the tour to see the animals. We saw pigs, goats, sheep, chickens, cows and a couple of turkeys! Riley said her favorite was the turkeys. Go figure! {turkeys are really not the cutest animal} Such a cute little day with my baby girl!

This feels like the very first Mother's day where I'm not in a mood.
When you lose someone it's strange how it can create a negative cloud around you for certain times. Without even trying, it just  happens. You're in a bad mood unintentionally. Then you look at the calender and it's almost their birthday. It's almost the anniversary of their death. In my case this time it's Mother's day the first reminder of the year that I don't have both my babies.

With the hubby gone I didn't get the normal breakfast and all that but that was fine. Riley did a really good job on her own! She woke me up too early but it was okay she came in my room and snuggled with me. We lay there and talked about Elijah and what it would be like if he was here too. We made a space on the bed for him so he could be there in spirit. Today I felt like I had both my babies with me. It was peaceful and serene and I just smiled. She was quiet and let me fall back asleep for an hour and we finally got up for breakfast after ten, with no complaints from her. We made pancakes together and got ready for church.

I am in no way, shape or form over the loss. You never "get over it" and I don't like to say "move on" either. Neither phrase feels right. I feel like our family is still here, we keep him here. We talk about him, we think about him. Riley dreams about the two of them playing and talking. He's still very present in our lives and in our family and that will never change.

So no matter if you have all your children, or your babies are in heaven. If they don't have a name or they do. You're still a mommy, a beautiful mommy and today is your day too!

For those who have lost their moms. I don't know what that feels like, my heart goes out to you, and my prayers.

Happy Mother's day to all the beautiful, hardworking, supportive, sensitive mommy's out there. Your babies are a precious gift given to you by God! Treasure them forever!

{Awana Grand Prix} It's Racing time...

It's already been a couple weeks since the Awana Grand Prix and I am just now getting around to blogging about it. We had such an awesome time doing this together. It's funny what was supposed to be a daddy-daughter thing ended up being a family thing. Can't complain about that! You can check out the post about the workshop here

Riley wanted to name her car "Lightning McQueen Girl" and we kind of convinced her that that name might have been too long. Evan came up with "Purple Thunder" instead. She wanted it purple and wanted zebra stripes.
So I painted my best zebra stripes! I even had to check out some zebra fingernails for some inspiration. It turned out pretty good for our first one.

We had to have the car weighed and measured to make sure we were within regulations for the race. How legit!

We did a few test runs. Unfortunately, poor little purple thunder couldn't even finish the track. So we had to rush home and get some things around the house. Like washers, pennies just to make it weigh more. Came back and tried it again. Voila! that did the trick!

Race Day!

I was surprised at how awesome some of the other cars were! People definitely take this seriously!

All the lovely trophies

The Crowd

The Track

How cute was this. They had to do a fun little drivers test. Riley had to read the sign to check her vision, they checked her height. Then she had a scavenger hunt around the room to find traffic signs.

Apparently when you pass the test you get a tattoo! Do they do this at all DMV's?
Purple Thunder gearing up for the race!

So not really sure what happened towards the award part. There was definitely some technical difficulties with the track so it messed up the results. It was fine though. I don't think the kids even really knew what was going on. They had contests for best looking car, most creative etc. Riley thought they called her number I guess and she tried to get the number. I yelled over to her telling her it wasn't her and I guess she got a bit embarrassed. Spent the rest of time crying and having a possible emotional breakdown! .......Even when they called her name for 3rd place! :( Poor baby!
She wouldn't even pose for the picture!

All better once we got home.

P.S ....Pay no attention to the hubby's "Driving shirt" I really need to throw that thing out! Haha

{ECSTATIC} VERONICA MARS!!!!!

I am so excited! More than excited! I can't even contain my excitement! It's official they are making a Veronica Mars movie! And it happened because the fans funded it! I believe they raised about 5.7 million dollars to make this happen. If you haven't seen or even heard of this awesome show. You need to get on the Veronica Mars Bandwagon. It's like a modern "Nancy Drew" type show with a lot of witty banter. Kristen Bell is absolutely amazing! I am totally bummed it only lasted three seasons but I re-watch them every summer just because I miss it!  They had tons of big guest stars throughout the seasons. Amanda Seyfried, Enrico Colantoni {Flashpoint, Person of Interest}, Charisma Carpenter {Buffy, Angel, Charmed}, Max Greenfield {New Girl}Harry Hamlin, Krysten Ritter {Gilmore Girls,}.Steve Guttenberg, Sydney Pottier, Lisa Rinna, Alyson Hannigan {Buffy, How I met your mother}. Just to name a few!

I seriously might have to have to Veronica Mars themed Party for when the movie comes out.
WHEW!! Now that I got all that out. Rambling like a high school cheerleader on a sugar high...Watch the show and get excited with me!

P.S I added one of my fave random videos with Kristen Bell and Chris Lowell. It always cracks me up every single time I see it!
