Fashion Friday {This is me}

It's September! Which is Thyroid Cancer Awareness Month! Some of you might already know I am a Thyroid cancer survivor. I am going on 9 years cancer free! That's crazy to think about!
You can read about my story and how you can self check yourself here
It is so important to be educated on these things. I had absolutely no symptoms whatsoever. If it wasn't for my Grandma pointing out a large nodule on my neck. I literally thought it was my adams apple. NO ONE ever corrected me! I know crazy right!? Please check yourself all the time and spread the word!
Happy Friday!

Fashion Friday A hipster summer

 I'm getting kind of used to these summer thunderstorms. It's a nice break from this unbearable Georgia heat! You think I could deal having grown up in the California desert. But the south is an entirely different world.
Sometimes in the summer I get into this rut. You know that feeling of needing a vacation from your vacation. Well it's kind of like that except I want something to do. I want to be busy again. Maybe its the cabin fever talking, the lack of social interaction {except for with children}. I've resulted in fake and sometimes fake drama on tv just to keep me company. It's really hard thinking of running off somewhere with the kids with the hubby. Any mom can relate that vacation with your kids is more work then staying at home. I have to physically, mentally and emotionally prepare myself for certain outings.
Let's take the movies for instance. My three year old does NOT do the movies very well.
He can't sit still. The only way to keep him contained is if I keep feeding him snacks. Mental noted sugar free snacks or feed him food and playtime before movies. Maybe that will tire him out beforehand.
Doing arts and crafts
He has the attention span of well a three year old. Or like the dog from Up.. you know saying squirrel in the middle of everything. Yeah! That's my kid for sure. So I end up setting up and cleaning up in under 20 minutes most of the time.
Any kind of water park/theme park/carnival is out unless I rope someone into helping me. Having an age gap between kids is rough in these cases because the older one wants to ride things the younger one can't.
What's left you ask?
The pool.
Yep that's the only thing they both like to do that also allows me a mental break.
So unless you all have some other suggestions for me.
I guess we will be at the pool for the next 6 weeks!
See you there!

Fashion Friday {Thanksgiving and Black Friday}

 I hope everyone had a fantastic Thanksgiving! We had a quiet one at home. I wanted it as stress free as possible. No guests meant no one to impress with a super clean house and a million homemade recipes. I took a cue from one of my friends and got some microwavable dishes that tasted just like homemade. Then got a small turkey breast that was just enough for us. Found an awesome recipe on Pinterest that is officially our new turkey recipe. It was that good! Then the boys fell asleep. Caleb barely got through dinner before he started to fall asleep. Then since we had nothing else to do. Riley really wanted to experience some Black Friday shopping. So we went over to Target right when the doors opened and the line was HUGE! I've worked at Target before for on Black Friday and I've done way later in the day. But I've never stood in line for a sale. It was crazy everyone running for all the deals. I was there for one deal and one deal only. I wanted Outlander season 2 on blu-ray. Yet, I still managed to snatch up some other stuff while we were there.
Now, today on the real Black Friday I find myself using all my self control to not buy more stuff. I've been staying away from the ads, emails, and sites. I've stayed at home so I won't be tempted to go into the stores. It's been soo hard! I wish you brave souls all the luck in the world while you go out on your Black Friday shopping!

"May the odds ever be in your favor".

Fashion Friday {I AM A SURVIVOR}

Today is my Canceriversary as I like to call it. I am 8 years cancer free! It's still strange to think that that is my life. Well it's not entirely hard to forget when I have to take that little pill every morning before I can start my day. In the more recent years I have developed a calcium deficiency because of it. I'm not sure if it was a combination of my last pregnancy or not. It actually started a year before I even had Caleb. So, maybe it was amplified by the pregnancy. I ended up spending my Christmas Eve getting a MRI because the right side of my face had gone completely numb. They thought I was having a stroke. We didn't tell anyone we didn't want to worry anyone if it was nothing. So we suffered in silence during that holiday season til we got the results back. No brain tumor thankfully just a calcium deficiency. It's amazing how we really need all these things in our body and how we can take them for granted. I thought I would be able to go back to normal but they just added more pills over the years. So looks like I'm stuck with it forever. But I can't complain because a lot of people have it way worse. They have get so sick and deal with chemo and hair loss. Where I have to deal with pills and regular checkups and scans.
Nevertheless here I am. I am a survivor. A Cancer survivor.

CopyCat Fashion

 While I didn't copy this outfit exactly. It was inspiration to work with what I already had in my closet. Took a different spin on it. I love that it was warm enough outside in the middle of winter to wear these little oxford flats. I never seem to wear them enough. The floral kimono's got me dreaming about spring too.

Fashion Friday {Aloha!}

Well we've been in Hawaii for two months now and I still don't feel settled in. I haven't shared many pictures of our new house or much of anything besides the occasional beach picture on instagram @ashley.reed
It's been really hard to get used to our new schedule and routine with school starting so early and my lack of sleep. I barely get my makeup on anymore. So I managed to get it together for Fashion Friday and I'm hoping to get more soon.

Everything is pretty much casual here so I figured this was fitting for my first one in Hawaii!

Aloha!!

I'm in love with this kimono, and floral basically. I think this style represents my attitude on life now. Stress free, effortless, relaxed kind of life. Enjoy the little things and the sweet moments. Life is too short to be busying yourself to the point where you can't even enjoy your life anymore. So here's to stress free living.
