Fashion Friday: We survived

This week was a crazy couple of weeks. My husband came home from deployment so we've been just stepping back from the world to be a family again. Readjusting to family life again is such a weird thing after being apart for so long. You get used to living that single parent life. You develop a new routine. Only to have to jump back into how it was before they were gone. You can check out my deployment survival checklist here.
I have to be honest it worked for me only during the school year. The summer was hard doing it on my own with the kids. My little man is a bit wild and I definitely needed another set of hands and eyes for both kids. Good news though we did in fact survive this deployment.

Hope everyone has a great weekend. Happy Friday!

Fashion Friday {Mental Health Day}

 This week we had international mental health day. I wanted to just share what I posted on the day.

"I wasn’t going to post anything until a conversation with my brother proved that people really believe in perception. If you don’t let them in they tend to think your life is perfect. I pride myself on being real, genuine and honest. All my life I have dealt with depression and later on anxiety. I have had many hardships {death of my son, getting cancer, deployments, getting teased/bullied} For a time I needed medication for anxiety but for ME it only made it worse. There’s nothing wrong with asking for help. There’s nothing wrong with talking to someone. Let’s get rid of this stigma about mental health and have a conversation about it. You are not alone! "
Ps 9:9-10: The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. Those who know your name will trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you (NIV).

Fashion Friday {Glass Houses}

It's crazy how it's been a week since I was in California recording the rest of my EP! Well, not recording I should say. I actually got sick and wasn't able to finish the songs. Now I have to get better and prepare another trip to get out there to finish as soon as possible. I am definitely disappointed! I'm working on it. How do you guys deal with disappointment?

Don't get me wrong things definitely turned around for me. This week my debut single was released out into the world! The response has been overwhelmingly positive! I'm so excited for what's to come. I'm nervous for sure but still really excited!
You can see my music video here.

Fashion Friday {This is me}

It's September! Which is Thyroid Cancer Awareness Month! Some of you might already know I am a Thyroid cancer survivor. I am going on 9 years cancer free! That's crazy to think about!
You can read about my story and how you can self check yourself here
It is so important to be educated on these things. I had absolutely no symptoms whatsoever. If it wasn't for my Grandma pointing out a large nodule on my neck. I literally thought it was my adams apple. NO ONE ever corrected me! I know crazy right!? Please check yourself all the time and spread the word!
Happy Friday!

{Fashion Friday} Last day of summer

So it's been a minute since I blogged anything. I have no words. I've been spot cleaning carpets, eating my kids leftovers and binge watching tv shows I missed during their original air date. I've just been living life and most days barely making it through. You know those time lapse videos of someone bringing different meals to the table on different days. What about the ones where they fall onto the bed and it's clearly different days. I feel like that is my life lately. It's the day in and day out monotonous routine. Counting down the days til this deployment is over and we can go back to that other family routine! Anyways, my apologies for being M.I.A.

Can you believe summer is over. It's already labor day weekend this weekend and I'm kinda excited honestly. The summers are so hot out here that I'm looking forward to a little more snuggly weather. Some vanilla chai tea with pumpkin spice. Thankfully in Georgia I can still get away with wearing sandals so its the best of both worlds. I feel like Hannah Montana!
This will probably be the last summer outfit as we move forward into fall.. So please, enjoy!
