Stronger than a 90's trend

You ever wonder when they will be done with this 90's trend. I don't hate it! It's make me very nostalgic. I watched "The Last Blockbuster" on Netflix. The "KID 90"  and "The Orange years: The Nickelodeon story" Documentaries on Hulu. It's fun to think about how simple things used to be. No Social Media, no pressure to be perfect all the time. We could go outside and play for hours without watching TV. We used our imagination. Going to a Blockbuster was a special thing. I loved spending time picking out all the fun movies. I think that's why I'm such a big TV/Movie junkie. I miss all the fun Nickelodeon shows as well.

What was your favorite thing from the 90's ?

New Year, Same thing

 I had every intention of writing a Christmas post and that didn't happen. Then I had every intention of writing a 2020 recap post. That didn't happen either. So before it's my birthday I figured I needed to get on this. Today the kids go back to school and I feel like the break never even happened. It was the only day that my youngest decided to sleep in. The first day back of setting alarms again. I will never understand that about kids. They sleep in on days they have to get up early, and they get up early when they can sleep in. They also stay up late and get up early, and go to bed early and still get up early. Never ending cycle.

Anyway, I digress. I noticed now that it's 2021 a new year. We all kind of buy into this "New year, New me" mentality. Now there's a new trend of not putting that kind of pressure on yourselves. Anyone else tired of what everyone tells you what to do. "Everyone" meaning society, social media, trends, etc.

What drastic measures are you going to take to change yourself from one night to the next? Covid is still happening. Our kids are still remote learning or for some lucky folks in different parts of the country have some kind of normalcy in that area. The country is still going insane. We overwhelm our minds with "I'm going to go on this diet." "I'm going to work harder with this addiction." But what does that do? It makes us cram all the bad behavior in before midnight. Eat all the junk you can because the very next day you have to change your thoughts, your feelings, your behaviors in that particular area of your life. True change can't be done overnight. We have to take one day at a time. Allow mistakes, allow the change to occur gradually. Here's the thing. New Years resolutions are a little pointless. It should be called "Goals for this year to possible attain. But if not its okay life still goes on. You have not failed".

The idea of being a failure has been on my mind lately. We get so wrapped in the idea that if we don't do productive things. And do them perfectly we are a failure. Which 2020 was a huge test of that. Especially for stay at home moms. Our whole identity is wrapped up in the things we get done in a day. Keeping the house clean, doing the dishes and the laundry. Getting the groceries, and cooking meals. Maybe, if we had some leftover minutes in the day we can do something for ourselves. Oh if only.

You don't have to be perfect at everything all the time. My desktop screensaver currently says "Progress not perfection". I think those are good words to live by for the new year. Let's just try one day at a time to be the better version of ourselves.

Style

Did you miss me?

I'm so glad I stocked up on all these cozy sweaters and jackets before I left Georgia. It's like 70 degree weather there and super cold here! But I still got to get these looks posted so we can start fresh. Look forward to a few more looks coming your way. Out with the old in with the new. That's the new mentality for 2020. Purging myself of everything toxic.. trying to at least. Let's see how long this new years resolutions last. We are pushing through in its only one month in.

How are you doing on your new year resolutions?

Fashion Friday

 How is it already November?! There's literally 52 days left of this year. This has been such a crazy year. I started out this year dropping my very first EP in February. It's been a slow and steady pace since then. I have learned that the music business is very slow. It's a constant waiting game. In fact it was until this week that I finally wrote a song for another artist. That sounds so crazy to me. It's definitely a new experience. It's hard to put time and effort into something creative just to give it away to someone else. I'm learning to cope with it. Because that's part of the gig of being a songwriter. At least that's what I've been telling myself. All singer/songwriters do it! Avril Lavigne wrote for Kelly Clarkson, Jessie J wrote for Miley Cyrus. I can do this!!
Until the next track comes along...... Who knows what the future holds for me. #Dreamsdonthavedeadlines

On a side note. This whole outfit is from Ross!! I can't say it enough. Ross is my jam!! I love cute, on trend affordable fashion. This military wife/artist needs things to be affordable!

Fashion Friday {Summer Daze}

Summer is officially no more! We've all gotten used to our new normal now. Well, almost there's more things starting this month and it's looking like it's going to be just as crazy as this month.
Starting us off is Hurricane Dorian.
We got a mandatory evacuation early this week. So we decided to take advantage and go visit family before we move. It was also a chance to give them a bunch of stuff that we didn't want anymore so we could start the PCS purge. We do it before every move. You get rid of junk, you have yard sales and you trash a bunch of stuff. The month of September is filling up with visitors, school activities, performances, etc. The PCS countdown begins now. It's going to be hard to leave this place!
Hope everyone has been staying safe during the hurricane and there is no damage.
Hopefully our last hurricane before we move on to the next place .

Fashion Friday {Dallas}

 I’m off having a fantastic time in Texas. A little work, a little mommy vacation time. I actually don’t mind alone time so much. When you only have to worry about yourself. It’s nice to take a little breather from everyone else and just decompress. Don’t you think?
Take a bath, eat in bed, sleep in. This is definitely a belated Mother’s day present to me. The hubby was in school during mothers day and it was too much to do anything. Too bad I can’t throw in a massage this week. But stuffing my face with some In n Out will have to do.
Please follow along on my music instagram to see all about my trip.

Hope you are having a relaxing, stress free friday and rest of your weekend!

Fashion Friday {Casual Bohemian}

I'm already in vacation mode. School is out in just a few more days and I'm already relaxing and hanging out in my most comfortable pants. I'm letting my hair go natural like a true bohemian ( I suppose). It's the "I don't care" kind of vibe that I'm really into these days.

I'm right in the middle of planning our summer vacation plans. It's nice being so close to Florida and the beach and theme parks. We are trying to take advantage of all that while we are still in Georgia. You never know when the military is going to move you. It's just about that time of year too.
I still have to do a big Disneyworld trip with the kids and go to all the parks. Definitely do Universal Studios again a couple more times. We are big Harry Potter nerds.
We are playing around with ideas on where to stay. Hotel, RV, or a vacation rental. There's so many options. What are your plans for the summer?
