Eating your feelings

A phrase I've heard so much this year. "Eating my feelings" Such an insane year and we all feel it. We're all unsettled. It's in the air. There's always bad news around the corner and we are just hanging on for dear life.

I  miss the simple days of taking my notebook, pen and cd player (sometimes a cute artsy hat) to the backyard to write my feelings.

Now there's no time. All there is work on top of work and just enough energy to climb into bed maybe watch a show and then fall asleep. Only to dream about all the things you are stressed about and waking up with a soar jaw from all grinding your teeth all night.

These just could be thoughts of a mom who is "single momming" it right now.  You work, then come home to more work. Cleaning, special projects, kids homework, their projects. The monotonous nightly routine just to get up and do the whole thing again.

I understand why people LIVE for fridays.

Just a thought.

Gratitude

I have to admit I'm kind of obsessed with these overalls. I wore them all summer and now they are transitional into Fall. I added this cozy fall colored sweater and some booties. I'm not excited for the snow but here we are! What's your favorite transitional piece right now?

Checking things off my bucket list

Well, the plan worked! I planned just enough stuff to keep us busy this summer that we made it through without the hubby. It was only a couple of months but still a good amount of time. Especially without the routine of a school. Now I feel like our summer is officially beginning. The whole family is back together again and we are getting ready for our big trip of the summer. We are celebrating our 15th Wedding anniversary. That's even crazy to say. I have no idea how 15 years have come and gone already. You always think those sayings are dumb and cliche. But "Time flies by"! It really does.

We are crossing two things off our bucket list with this trip. ::Drumroll Please:::::

We are headed to Greece!!

We are doing a Mediterranean Cruise. We've never been on a cruise before. Two main reasons I've never been on a cruise. 1: TITANIC! Enough said right? The other one is the movie The Poseidon adventure. Where a huge tidal wave comes and flips the ship upside down. Terrifying !! So terrifying they needed to make a reboot. One of those movies was enough for me. Also, please tell me why as soon as I book the cruise. The Poseidon adventure (new one) is advertised on my TV.

Those were my childhood fears that kept me from going on a cruise. Now my grown up fear is my claustrophobia. Which has thankfully gotten worse as I get older. That's a real problem if you book a room that has NO WINDOWS. They even have rooms with the tiniest, smallest window known to man.

I'm grateful, thankful, ecstatic to have book a room with a balcony. I still don't plan on staying in the room very much but a balcony helps. We will be stopping in Santorini, Corfu, Rhodes, and Mykonos. It makes me want to watch My big fat greek wedding again and Sisterhood of the traveling pants.
Clearly my life/memories revolve around Movies.

Know of any movies that take place in Greece? Let me know in the comments below.

I'll be busy planning all my outfits. Finding all the fun traveling amazon finds. Watching all the Youtube videos on Greece and cruises.

Anyone else do that?

Just me.... ::shrugs:: okay.

Overzealous

It's been awhile I know. Life has been busy and I'm contemplating taking a break from the blogging world. It's just been hard to give my all on one thing when my focus is split all the time.

It's now summer and I've been cramming a lot of plans in to make up for last year. I hope you all are doing the same. It's almost like life is getting back to normal a little bit. We are officially allowed to take off our masks in most places. I went into Target the other day with no mask. It felt weird and it wasn't long before I put it back on again. I just don't know what I'm supposed to do. I'm sure that's the case with a lot of you. Especially in the states that are more behind then other states.

It's almost like we've lived to separate lives here in Colorado. Our first year was so different with everyone being stuck at home. Trying to navigate all that. We had no friends yet. Everything was closed there were no cars on the street. It was like living in the twilight zone. Now sports are happening again. The streets are busy. They are doing concerts and festivals and all other kinds of events. Tickets for flights have gone way up again. It's insane!

I'm hoping to get some summer posts up for you to share all the things we have planned.

I'm heading back into the studio in a couple weeks. Going on a mission trip to Mexico. Kids are doing summer camp. That's just in JUNE. I may have gotten over zealous with the summer plans.

Life is short right?

New Beginnings

Have you ever been at a crossroad of something new and exciting? Overwhelmed with all the swirling ideas in your head. There has been something possibly in the works for a long time for me. I've been playing around with some ideas. I'm thinking now might be the best time to do it.
We are living in strange times right now. We are realizing now more than ever that life is too short to not go after your dreams. I like many of you got stuck in 2020.
We had just moved to a new city, new state and within a month everything was shut down and we were stuck in a house being bored. We had nothing to do but dive into our hobbies maybe? I had all these plans and ideas. Finish all the books on my book list. I ended up reading a finishing two books and not getting through the third before returning it to the library. I wanted to get my DIY projects done. I got ONE done. I wanted to learn all the dances from the 90s and early 2000's music videos. SURPRISE again didn't get any of that done. I did write and record a few songs which was great!

In fact a lot of the time ended up being soul searching. Which I have already blogged about so I won't bore you with it again. I think 2020 was necessary for growth. Being self aware even if it's painful can be so beneficial. It's obviously just the beginning a lot of healing needs to happen. By the mental health journey is so great and so important. I feel the more you talk about things and bring them out into the open you can learn from it, change from it, embrace it, and move forward with your life.

All of these great and sometimes hard things have now lead me this crossroads. The next chapter in my life, in our lives. What does the next five to ten years look like? We've been diving in deep to the planning. Soaking up all the financial advice from Dave Ramsey's network. Planning not only for us but our kids futures. Even more than we have before. Now that we have crossed those things off our list it's time to move onto the next.

I don't want to give too much away because we are doing our research and going over the details and praying about it. We want to make sure this is a good next step for us.
With that said to be continued...

I will leave you with this though. Don't let fear rule over you. There will always be some apprehension on any life decision. But if God is in it then you know you are on the right path.
I have confidence that it will be great.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” ~ Philippians 4:6-7

“Peace is what I leave with you; it is my own peace that I give you. I do not give it as the world does. Do not be worried and upset; do not be afraid.” ~ John 14:27

Days of Thankfulness

Well today is a crazy day isn't it! We are living in the twilight zone people. I can't even with this year. It's almost over but it doesn't make me excited for next year. Then I took a double take at the date and realized it's been a whole month since I posted anything.

Oops!

It's been like this so much this year. It hasn't been a priority. I'm trying to fit all these things in and then something ends up falling through the cracks. Since it's November now I wanted to make a list of all the things good and positive this year. A few of the things I'm thankful for.

1} The family and I moved to a new place. Throw a pandemic in there and we have had tons more time together.

2} We saved enough money for my new car! {Also a result of the pandemic}You can find that post here.

3} I wrote 5 songs this year and recorded two of them. { "Waves" is out now available on all streaming platforms.}

4} Found a great church with lots of awesome new friends pretty quickly.

5} I now have an office/studio space in our new house. Super excited for the progress I'm making with it.
