Nothing is wasted

We are reaching the end of the year. I feel like I've pushed hard this year. Working, a new show, health issues, putting out new music. But that burn out is real. It's a vicious cycle. So with the remainder of 2022 I want to do just that. Rest, reset. I feel like I might say that all the time. But taking a moment to breathe and focus on family and the things that fill my soul. Work things out. There's always room to learn new things. There's always room to heal. I want to do that.

DIY Sunday Edition

I have a stockpile of DIY projects. I'm not sure what I was doing with my time in Georgia but I didn't get any of them done.  Well, with the exception of my entryway bench.
I just kept adding to my list.

I found the easiest projects to accomplish at home with what I had on hand to start off with.
I had a couple canvases for the kids to paint on {that post coming soon}
Then I had this lovely piece. I found some old spray paint in the basement that survived the move. I had some sandpaper and my task presented itself.
This piece came attached to our TV stand that we got a few years ago. I didn't want to throw it away because I had a vision for it. Time got away from me and I never did it.
After watching several DIY videos on youtube I finally felt motivated.

I waited for a nice sunny warm day and went outside. I removed all the cardboard and huge staples and started sanding away. The paint I had was a primer and paint combo so I didn't have to worry about priming it beforehand. However it did take more paint that anticipated. I had to bring it in for a few of the cold days while I waited for a time to snag a couple more cans from Home depot. Now with everything getting worse and more stores closing and limiting customers I'm glad I did it when I did.

PROJECT:
2 1/4 cans of Rustoleum all surface paint and primer in "Flat Chestnut"
Sandpaper
Flathead screwdriver  with help from the hubby for the difficult ones (to remove staples )

{BEFORE}

Voila! I give you my version of a blanket ladder! Just upcycled some packing material that's it. It can also probably be used for a planter outside. There's tons of different ideas. You just got to use your imagination.

Fashion Friday {Mental Health Day}

 This week we had international mental health day. I wanted to just share what I posted on the day.

"I wasn’t going to post anything until a conversation with my brother proved that people really believe in perception. If you don’t let them in they tend to think your life is perfect. I pride myself on being real, genuine and honest. All my life I have dealt with depression and later on anxiety. I have had many hardships {death of my son, getting cancer, deployments, getting teased/bullied} For a time I needed medication for anxiety but for ME it only made it worse. There’s nothing wrong with asking for help. There’s nothing wrong with talking to someone. Let’s get rid of this stigma about mental health and have a conversation about it. You are not alone! "
Ps 9:9-10: The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. Those who know your name will trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you (NIV).

Fashion Friday

 I love this kimono! I love the color of this Kimono. I don't know if you've noticed but Target has been stepping it up in the fashion department lately. I love a lot of the stuff that they've been putting out. When I saw this I had to snatch it up quickly before it was gone. They also have it in white and right now they are buy one get one half off right now. Pretty good deal if you want to grab both colors which is what I did.

We made it through the first week of school and all went well. It's looking to be a good year. We might just do a back to school fashion series of all Riley's cute back to school outfits.
Happy Friday everyone!

Fashion Friday

 Recently went to Brunch downtown and wore this outfit. It's perfect for that casual, effortless look. Loving the print and cut of the dress. It doesn't cling but lays very nicely. Forever21 is still having their sale on dresses right now. Definitely a good deal on their inexpensive dresses for spring and summer so go stock up!
