{Fashion} Spring Fever/Mixing Patterns

I'm ready for Spring!? Anyone else? Since we still have cold here right now I am bringing in my floral prints so I can pretend that Spring is near. Floral print is a fave of mine lately. Lucky it's a huge trend right now.
I used to be scared of mixing prints. Well, not scared more like had no interest. There are some patterns that when put together are just not good. I watched a fashion segment last year on mixing patterns and learned some valuable things. When mixing patterns you want to make sure that one pattern is smaller so it's better contrasted next to your bold pattern.  A small stripe or polka dot for example, like what I am wearing here. It's not too crazy and out there. Very subtle but still bold at the same time.

{Copycat} Pinterest Fashion

It's been awhile since I did a Copycat Fashion Post! This was even slightly accidental. It's funny how things work out like that. I like how Sydney of The Daybook paired red on red. It's such a vibrant combination that you rarely see people do. I guess it stuck in my head. When I was putting my outfits together I decided why not do an interpretation of this look.

{Fashion & Faith Thursday} Boho Chic

Photography by Jenny Courtney Photography

I'm in love with this kimono, and floral basically. I think this style represents my attitude on life now. Stress free, effortless, relaxed kind of life. Enjoy the little things and the sweet moments. Life is too short to be busying yourself to the point where you can't even enjoy your life anymore. So here's to stress free living.

{Fashion Friday} Gold shorts! and Fashion and Faith Link up

So I'm a day late. Oh well, better late then never. Besides who doesn't like a good Fashion Friday. It's been awhile. I wanted to get a ton of my "Shorts" outfits up on here before Summer is long gone. Can you believe its August already that's insane. This summer flew by, but I'm starting to get excited for Fall. A New England is literally the best. The trees and colors are so gorgeous! Pumpkin and apple everything! Hot chocolate, cozy sweaters, I'm starting to get in the Fall mood! But until then. I got a lot of semi summer outfits coming that cane easily transition into Fall.

These shorts I bought last year for Christmas time. I loved that they were out of my comfort zone. I wanted some sparkle in my life though. I was about to just put a black top with it, but then quickly changed to the striped one. I knew that would be a normal, safe combination. I wanted to be different! Paired it with a blazer, necklace and booties. BAM! Instant glam! Who wouldn't love sparkly shorts!
What item of clothing do you have that is out of your comfort zone?

{Fashion & Faith Thursday} Leather & Lace

How is it that it's August 1st already! Everywhere I look it's all about Fall and back to school stuff already. Where did the summer go? I'm not ready for snow again! :(  I'm not ready to start thinking ahead to fall trends and what not. I haven't even worn shorts nearly enough yet this summer. I was just looking through my closet and I realized. When we first got married and got stationed in Kentucky I was not prepared for the cold and snow wardrobe wise. All I had was light sweaters, shorts, short sleeve shirts. Fast forward to seven years later and now 95% of my wardrobe consists of cold weather items. I have a million long sleeve shirts, sweaters, jackets, leggings and jeans. Not to mention it's all about boots now and not sandals. What's happened to this California girl!? Hopefully our next duty station will be a bit milder with the cold weather. So I can somewhat get back to my roots.

I love this leather jacket! I'm a huge thrifter but not when it comes to clothes. I don't know I just never liked doing it. Maybe it was all those years of having hand me down clothes growing up. That turned me off to the whole wearing someone else's clothes thing. I'd rather thrift for furniture, or home decor. But I made an exception this one time when I saw this jacket in a Plato's closet in Colorado. I was obsessed with leather jackets at the time. I mean who isn't!? It instantly gives your outfit a bit of edge. Even something as pretty as a little lace dress like this one. Leather and lace is always a fun combo! What's your favorite combinations?
